Court Resurfacing
Is your sport court fading, cracked, or peeling? If so, your court can be restored
and look like new again with a TPS® Court Surfaces’ resurfacing system. To
keep courts looking and playing like new, resurfacing should occur every 5-8 years.
Hellas provides a heavy-bodied coating system manufactured in-house to provide
superior filling and leveling characteristics.
Coupled with state-of-the-art crack repair systems, Hellas can repair and
resurface an old court to give it a second life, or create a new court with superior
stability, performance, and technology from an existing concrete or asphalt slab.
STEP 1:
COURT PREP-POWER WASHING
The resurfacing process begins by power washing off all of the courts and etching the concrete if necessary. This will clean off the existing surface and prepare it to be resurfaced.
STEP 2:
STANDARD CRACK REPAIR
Most standard courts will have smaller or hairline cracks. For smaller, repairable cracks, Hellas’ specialized court-repair crews will clean, fill, and smooth the surface. Hellas crews will also fill in low spots and grind down the high spots leaving the court as a smooth, even playing surface.
STEP 3:
PREMIUM CRACK REPAIR
If the court has larger cracks, Hellas’ Premium Crack Repair System certified crews inspect each crack and appropriately patch them. The system features a micro-technology that allows the existing cracks to move without breaking through the membrane. This system has no dead spots, hollow sounds, or bubbling resulting in supreme playability for the refreshed surface. This is an optional service.

STEP 4:
TPS 5000 ACRYLIC SURFACER
After passing a quality inspection of all repairs the Hellas TPS crews apply an acrylic surface to bond to the concrete or asphalt so the court paint can be applied.
STEP 5:
TPS 5000 COURT COLOR
Two coats of TPS 5000 are applied to the courts. The base coat adds to the durability and the final coat is applied with precision — giving the courts a uniform finish.
Once the final coat of TPS 5000 has adequate time to dry, crews will tape off regulation lines specified by sport.
A coat of line sealer is applied to the taped off area to ensure that the paint will leave crisp, clean lines across the surface of the courts.
Following the line sealer application, the paint is applied with either a roller or brush. After all of the lines of the court are fully coated, the tape is removed and the lines are left to dry. The courts now have a crisp new playing surface for athletes to use!
Hellas Construction is a certified installer of the RiteWay crack repair system as well as the Armor crack repair system. Hellas crews are certified to install either premium crack repair product with the full confidence of both manufacturers during the resurfacing process.
